Ron,

I have really enjoyed reading your posts on personal patters. For me, I know that my greatest growth area is with this axiom. It is a two fold task for me. First, I need to gain perspective on my life in oreder to see how increasingly great the "noise" has become. Once I do this, I need to develop the patterns of find quietness in God's presence.

I'll admit, the "be still and know I am God..." is a huge challange! Focusing on this verse requires me to actually do something that I am really not used to...being still!

I appreciate you thoughts and the way you have challanged me.

This is still the most meaningful pratice my wife and I have experienced in our spiritual walk. Centering prayer and being still has definitely helped us to know He is God.

and open heart open mind may be the best single primer on the topic. so glad you found it Cathy. take a look sometime at DeMello's "Awareness." It is one of Doubleday publishers most bought books in the area of "spirituality."

I am so excited to read that you reference Fr. Thomas Keating. I stumbled upon his book, Open Mind, Open Heart and have found it very difficult, but also very worthwhile.

Definitely something my mainline denominational upbringing didn't cover. :-)
